Welcome

Every year, hundreds of Wayne State students participate in Study Abroad programs and have life-changing experiences.  Whether you are interested in a cultural experience that will reframe the way you see the world, improving skills that will help you get a job, or simply earning credits toward your degree outside of a campus classroom--you can find a program that will fit your needs.  We are dedicated to helping students learn to navigate the world outside of the United States and create memories and skills that will last a lifetime!

"The fact is, with every friendship you make, and every bond of trust you establish, you are shaping the image of America projected to the rest of the world.  That is so important.  So when you study abroad, you're actually helping to make America stronger." - Michelle Obama

Munera Kaakouch

Major: Art with a minor in biology
Program: France: University of Tours Francois-Rabelais exchange

Planning for a career in medicine, Munera based her exchange program around working as a lab assistant at the University of Tours.

“It was pretty cool, being able to work on a team to design new healthcare products that we may be consuming in the future," she says. “Going to Europe the way I did really gave me a simulation of what life as an adult is like. You’re really relying on yourself. It taught me to stand on my own two feet and trust myself. And that’s really the goal of college in general, right? To be able to find yourself and how to operate independently.

“If you’re even considering studying abroad, do it. Find the time while you have it. Do not miss your chance to see the world and open up your mind. You might think you know a lot, but you don’t know anything until you see the world.”
